Beltangady, Dec 20: "Persistent efforts are generally blessed by God. Ashwini Shetty Akkunje has made her mark in athletics at the Asian Games and I hope she will achieve more milestones in the future," said Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Sri Kshetra Manjunatheshwara, Dharmasthala, in his felicitation address.
Dr Heggade felicitated Ashwini, who won the gold at the Asian Games, at his residence here on Monday December 20. The felicitation was organized by Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Education (SDME) Trust.
"Ashwini Shetty has set an example for athletes in the country," said Dr Heggade and urged parents and teachers to encourage girls to take interest in sports and athletics.
Ashwini, acknowledging the felicitation, said that success will come to those who try with a disciplined mind to achieve a set goal. She shared her experiences at the Asian Games with the members of SDM education institutions sports union.
Dr Heggade’s wife Hemavati Heggade, Supriya Harshendra Kumar, Manya, and SDM College principal Dr B Yasho Varma were present on the occasion.
