M'lore: Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti Opposes Shifting of Ambedkar Statue

Mangalore, Dec 20: District unit of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti has strongly condemned the decision of BJP government to shift Ambedkar’s statue located amidst Vidhana Soudha and High Court wherein the government gives the reason of Metro project.

The union also said that the projected plan may cause insecurity for Vidhana Soudha and High Court premises.

S P Anand, district chief secretary, addressing the protestors here on Monday December 20 said that the union has placed the fulfillment of five-point demand that includes withdraw of the decision pertaining to shifting of Ambedkar’s statue, prohibition of the controversial 'Urulu Seve' or the 'Made Snana' which is being observed by the devotees in Subrahmanya, suspension of Bunder circle inspector Vinay Gaonkar for allegedly insulting dalit leaders when they had consulted him justice for a poor woman, to build a Ambedkar Bhavan in Dakshina Kannada district and to take serious actions against those who killed a small girl child near Yeyyady, recently.

The protestors then handed over the appeal letter to the DC, which will be submitted to the state Governor. Sesappa Nekkilu, Sanjeev R and Jagdish Pandeshwar among others were present.
