Udupi: Retired LIC Officer Dies in Accident

Udupi, Dec 20: Gopa Shetty (63), a retired LIC officer and native of Innanje Mandyady and a resident of Ambalpady here, died in a road accident that occurred near Kaup on Saturday December 18.

Shetty was going to Udupi along with his wife, Lata Shetty, in his two-wheeler, when an express bus moving towards Mangalore, hit them at Pangala near Kaup. The couple, which was injured grievously, was shifted to a hospital. Gopa Shetty died later at the hospital. He is survived by wife and three daughters.

Gopa Shetty, who was very good in public relationship, had been instrumental in the renovation of Pangala Brahmalingeshwara Alade, having been the secretary of its renovation committee.

Lata Shetty’s condition continues to be critical. She is an employee of Brahmagiri branch of Syndicate Bank in the town.
