Mangalore: Kannada Version of Book, 'Banks in the South' Released

Mangalore, Dec 19: Kannada version of book on “Banks in the South” by Dr N K Thingalaya was released by Prof B R Ananthan, vice chancellor of Rani Chennamma University, Belgaum at Justice KS Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte, recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ananthan called upon the thinkers and scholars to undertake more of research work in the field of banking history and evolution. He complimented the people and systems of
undivided Dakshina Kannada district for having a sustained banking system as a landmark in the whole country.

The book was translated by Dr G V Joshi, Dr Sudhirraj K and Prof N J Shetty. Prabhakar Shenoy, deputy general manager of Corporation Bank traced the contribution of banking systems of Dakshina Kannada district to the mainstream.

Dr N K Thingalaya called upon the students to take up the cause of research and consultancy as a part of their academic pursuit.

Dr M S Moodithaya, Dr N S Shetty and Prof Ramesh Karnik were on the dais

Prof G V Joshi briefed about the book. Dr Sudhiraj compered the programme  with Prof N J Shetty proposing the vote of thanks.
