Chikmagalur, Dec 19: The district administration has permitted the devotees to take part in Datta Jayanti at Datta Peeta to be held on Monday December 20. It also has further permitted devotees to enter the cave and have darshan of Datta Paduke between 7.00 am and 3.00 pm.

Deputy commissioner Channappa Gowda issued the instructions that the devotees will proceed further after keeping Idumudi outside the cave near the arch and also allow the devotees to observe Datta Jayanti in the way it was observed prior to 1975. He said that the vehicles carrying devotees will be allotted permission near Kaimara check post on December 20 between 6.00 am and 12.00 noon. Any vehicles that arrive thereafter will not be allowed to go to the top. The vehicles should return after 12 noon onwards, he added.

A ban on liquor consumption, sale, storage and transportation has been ordered within 5 km radius of Chikmagalur town and Bababudan Swami Dargah from Sunday December 19 from 6.00 am to Monday December 20 to 10.00 pm.
