Mangalore, Dec 17: Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, will be visiting the city on Sunday December 19. He will take part in a meeting of the BJP activists here. On that day, several prominent district level leaders from the Congress and JDS will be joining the BJP. This was stated by BJP Dakshina Kannada district president, Padmanabha Kottary.
Speaking after releasing the list of party candidates for the ensuing taluk and zilla panchayat elections here on Thursday December 16, Kottary said that the wife of Sucharita Shetty from the JDS, who happens to be the zilla panchayat member, has been given an opportunity to fight the election on a BJP ticket. He also claimed that Santosh Kumar Bhandary, who became zilla panchayat president with BJP support, is inclined to join the BJP.
Kottary explained that the party has finalized the list of candidates for 29 zilla panchayat and 113 taluk panchayat seats. He expressed confidence of finalizing the list of remaining candidates by Friday December 17 evening.
“Office bearers of the party have been allotted the responsibility of managing one taluk panchayat constituency each. They will be responsible for electioneering work and ensuring the victory of our candidates,” he said. He said he was certain of an emphatic victory for his party in view of the achievements of the state government and various development works undertaken by the government in the district.
MLA, N Yogish Bhat, Bangaradka Vishweshwar Bhat, and Franklin Monteiro were present at the press conference.
