Udupi, Dec 16: Speaking after releasing the first list of the BJP candidates from the district for the upcoming zilla and taluk panchayat elections on Wednesday December 15, Udupi-Chikmagalur MP, D V Sadanand Gowda, predicted that the results of these elections will provide a new direction to the national level political scenario. He stressed that these results will cast their influence on the national politics, culminating in the rout of the Congress government at the centre.
“Congress is losing its sway across the states because of its involvement with 2G spectrum scam, Adarsh Society scam, Commonwealth Games scam and many other scams. The constituents of UPA themselves are delivering deadly blows to that party. Power is slipping out of the hands of Congress party in Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. The party’s attempt to project Rahul Gandhi as the future Prime Minister has received a blow because of the pathetic performance of the party in Bihar,” Gowda explained.
Gowda said that the Congress party at the centre is in a muddle, having been unable to solve issues like Kashmir dispute, and differences of opinion within the cabinet. He claimed that the NDA has been gaining in popularity and strength again, and felt that the UPA may not be able to last its full term. He predicted that Lok Sabha election may be announced anytime in near future.
Drawing a clear line between the scams in which the centre is involved, and the scams alleged to have occurred in Karnataka, Gowda said that they are nor related to each other. “Constitutional bodies have confirmed the occurrence of scams like 2G spectrum, Adarsh Society, Commonwealth Games etc, and these findings are backed by records and documents. However, the scams in Karnataka are just allegations, and truth will emerge once the judiciary and Lokayukta conclude their respective investigations,” he added. He compared the recourse sought by Sonia Gandhi to raise scams in Karnataka at a time the central government is on a shaky footing, as an attempt by a drowning person, to save himself by using a straw of hay to stay afloat.
MLA, Lalaji R Mendon, BJP leader, Udayakumar Shetty and various other dignitaries were present.
