Mangaluru, Jan 20: SOGEC (Specialized Oil and Gas Engineering Co Ltd) sponsored MPL Season 2, Cricket tournament for a Noble Cause, organized by Mangalore Association Saudi Arabia on Thursday, January 13, and Friday January 14, 2022 concluded with a remarkable achievement.
Well balanced Eight Teams of well-known players in the Eastern Province from Jubail, Al Khobar, Dammam and Riyadh participated in this prestigious tournament. The event kick started on Thursday, January 13 evening at Issam Kabbani Flood light Ground around 9 pm in the presence of MASA founding member Ravi Karkera, president Sathish Bajal, ex-presidents and members of Advisory Committee Messrs. Narendra Shetty, Naveen Bhandary, MPL Core Committee Chairman and MASA vice-president Gopal Shetty, Karavali Association Riyadh ex-president Santhosh Shetty, Franchisee Owners, other dignitaries, Masa EXCOM and members.
Ravi Karkera and Sathish Bajal addressed the gathering and wished all the teams best of luck and thanked Sponsors, donors and participating players for playing cricket for a noble cause.

The teams were selected through a bidding process professionally conducted earlier.
After witnessing thrilling and exciting matches throughout the day, it was SASP Scorpions and Season – 1 winner, Gadi Nadu Warriors entered into the final by defeating Season -1 Runners Up Team Sasihithlu Beach Boys and Karavali Warriors, Riyadh respectively in a nail-biting finish.
SASP Scorpions emerged as Champions, while GNW had to settle for Runners Up Trophy in a tough battle of final.
Hundreds of cricket fans witnessed the event along with their families and friends by maintaining Covid guidelines and enjoyed thrilling matches with mighty sixes and fall of wickets. As many as 128 sixes were witnessed by the crowd. Eighteen sixes were hit by Fawaz Ullal alone of SASP Scorpions in total of 5 matches who scored century (113) in one of the matches.

Best Bowler: Mohammed Aneez of Karavali Warriors took 8 wickets.
Best Batsman: Fawaz Ullal of SASP Scorpions, Scored 193 with one century
Maximum Sixes: Fawaz Ullal of SASP Scorpions, 18 Sixes in total

For Best Bowler, Best Batsmen and Maximum sixes,were rewarded with Trophies and Gift Vouchers. Player of the Series was awarded with Trophy and Airfare from Dammam to Mangaluru. Champion Team and Runners up team were awarded with medals, Trophies and Gift Vouchers to 15 players from each squad.

MPL Season 2 emerged like a Ray of Light amidst the dark shadows of the pandemic. Cheers to MASA for taking the initiative to organize such an event with the sole intention of raising funds for various philanthropic services which is being going on for the past 15 years on regular basis. It was definitely a big success as eight teams battled for the coveted trophy with exhibition of great talent and sportsmen ship.
