Media Release

Mangalore, Dec 14: The residents of 6th Cross and adjoining areas of the busy surroundings near the KMC Hospital at Attavar, can now heave a sigh of relief. The lane which was traffic clogged due to the parking of vehicles belonging to those visiting the hospital, has now been declared as `No Parking Zone’ with the hospital authorities obliging to put up sign posts directing the vehicles to park at the vacant KMC
Grounds nearby.

Symbolically, a sign board was handed over to the traffic police by the KMC authorities on Tuesday morning in presence of the Works Committee Chairman of the Mangalore City Corporation.

The act may seem to be a small step as it concerned with one lane in one of the localities of the city.
But it assumes significance as such moves supported by Corporate and business entities all over the city
could do a world of good to decongest traffic in many of the bottlenecks around.

Chairman of the Standing Committee for Works and Town Planning of Mangalore City Corporation,
Sudhir Shetty, while complimenting the KMC authorities, said that small initiatives like this makes a big
difference with it comes to smooth flow of traffic in the city.

The residents of the area have been consistently insisting that the KMC authorities to initiate appropriate action so as to ward this problem. Finally, the authorities have now consented to put up the sign boards along with `No Parking’ posts in the vicinity, informed the locals who have been following up this project for long.

Traffic police inspector Manjunath Shetty, who was present on the occasion, was appraised of the various other problems bogging the area with respect to traffic management, by local resident and president of Rotary Club of Mangalore Hill Side, Bhaskar Kiran. Dhananjaya represented the KMC Hospital, while Ward BJP President, K P Shetty, Youth Forum - CREST member Rahul Raj Prakash among other local residents were present.
