Mangalore, Dec 14: District Wakf Advisory Committee Chairman Usman Haji in a memorandum submitted to the DC has stated that the Supreme Court’s decision of evicting illegal religious buildings should be carried out without harming the emotions of minor community people.
Those religious constructions which have registered their names with Wakf committee are not considered as illegal. They have been availed with government funds and other facilities, he said.
Even after being legal, if those religious centers are causing problems while widening work of the roads they can be evicted. But before demolishing any mosque in rural areas, other possibilities should be taken into consideration as acres of land owned by forest department can be acquired and the road can be widened. There is no meaning in demolishing of mosque in such placed, he added.
Mosques which are built 20 feet away from roads should not be evicted he urged and appealed not to hurt the emotions of any religions.
