Mangalore, Dec 13: State Bank of India, Kankanady branch under its novel corporate social responsibility project has adopted talented girl children to fund their education.
At the customer relation programme held at St Joseph’s Seminary here on Monday December 13, five girl children including three from St Gerosa School Velencia and one each from St Sebastian's Primary School, Adamkudru and Uchila Bovias higher primary school were given cheques.
Chief guest of the programme Col Serrao handed over the cheques to the children in the presence of their parents and head teacher.
Regional manager Satyamurthy spoke on the girl child adoption project of the bank and said that through community service department the bank will strive to provide education for the poor girl children and thereby carve their future. He also said that by investing Rs 1600 crores in technology and by introducing core banking facilities, the bank has every hope to vie with private sectors banks.
Chief manager Kishore Kumar spoke on customer relations. Chief manager Gokuldas Shenoy welcomed the gathering. Keshava Naik delivered the vote of thanks.
