Udupi, Dec 13: President of Udupi-DK Fish Sellers' Federation, Yashpal Suvarna said that the federation has demanded from the government to increase the revolving fund from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 which is given to fisherwomen under ‘Matsya Mahila Swawalambana Yojana’.
He spoke after distributing the cheques worth Rs 10 lac to the members of Udupi Taluk Fisherwomen Union given by Mangalore Fisheries Federation under the state government’s Matsya Mahila Swawalambana project.
Last year, Rs 80 lac in total were distributed to the fisherwomen and additional 10 lac have been sanctioned this year, he added. Further, he said that the timely repayment done by fisherwomen has made the federation to request for more fund to motivate fisheries sector.
Taluk Women Fisheries Association president Baby H Salian, vice-president Appi M Bangera, Ramesh Kidiyoor, Narayana P Kunder, Suresh B Kunder, Harish G Karkera, joint- secretary Jayanti Gurudas Bangera and Shanta among others were present.
