Mumbai Police Suspect Bhatkal Brothers Behind Varanasi Blast

Mumbai, Dec 8 (PTI): The Mumbai police today said it suspected that Bhatkal brothers Riaz and Iqbal, founders of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM), masterminded the blast.

City Police Commissioner Sanjeev Dayal also said the handlers of the outlawed organisation are sitting in Pakistan and running the "game" from there.

"The analysis of the e-mail and signature on it indicates similarities with previous emails sent by IM. Preliminary probe indicates the role of IM in this (sending e-mail). Now, we, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai police, are probing to establish which IM module had hacked into the unsecured WiFi and sent the mail from Navi Mumbai. But definitely, main players (of IM) are sitting in Pakistan and running the game from there," the city police chief said.

Asked who are the main players he was referring to, the Commissioner replied "definitely Bhatkal brothers. They are suspected to be behind the Varnasi blast." According to the police, Riyaz and his brother Iqbal are founder-members of IM.

Dayal said several IM members were arrested in 2008 by Mumbai Crime Branch and some are shown as wanted. "It is to be investigated if those wanted are involved in sending the e-mail or a new module is behind it. Before the IM was cracked in 2008, its members may have surveyed several areas looking for unsecured WiFis," the police chief said.

In 2008, the City Police had arrested 21 alleged members of IM on the charge of hatching conspiracy to set off blasts in various cities including Delhi, Bangalore and Surat. The Commissioner said the terror e-mail was sent from a house in Navi Mumbai and the person to whom the WiFi belonged to is innocent.

    Dear Altaf, There is not a single history where Hindus have started the fight. It was Muslims who have started terrorism. I agree that all Muslims are not terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims. Unfortunately, due to vote bank politics,politicians do not punish the guilty.Congress wants your vote.Why do Muslims in Gujarat vote for Mr. Modi, a BJP leader? History reveals that it was Afghan Muslims who invaded India, the land of Hindus and forcefully converted them.The Taj is basically a Shiva temple which was converted by Shahajahan into a tomb. If Hindus also become Terrorists, I think we would be trying to reverse the entire history and may be all Muslims in India would become Hindus again.

    Dear Altaf, What do you say about the Godhra incident in Gujarat? It was first the Godhra incident which trigerred where Hindus where killed.The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had organized a ‘Purnahuti Yagya’ in Ayodhya in February- March 2002. People participating in this ‘Yagya’ had simply participated and gone home. They did not stay in Ayodhya until 15th March 2002 for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya at the undisputed site.People from all parts of the country went to Ayodhya, participated in this event i.e. the Purnahuti Yagya and returned home from mid-February to 27th February 2002.A trainload of such people called ‘Karsevaks’ or ‘Ramsevaks’ were returning to Ahmedabad in Gujarat.The train, the Sabarmati Express was supposed to reach Ahmedabad early in the morning. It was running 4 hours late. (Source: India Today weekly, dated 11 March 2002)Shortly after the train left the Godhra railway station at 7: 47 AM, a mob of 2,000 people stopped it. The mob was armed with petrol bombs, acid bombs and swords. The attackers poured petrol into the compartment and then lit a fire. Two thousand people were standing on all sides of the compartment to prevent the karsevaks from running away and saving their lives from the fire. There was fire inside and armed Muslims outside. The karsevaks were burnt to death in a most horrifying manner. Many of the charred bodies were beyond recognition. The victims included 14 children, lot of women above 65.They were all done to death

    Law is not above an individual,without a concrete evidence no police will announce in the media ,only on suspicion,the people who just getting disturbed by hearing the names of muslims should stop reacting merely because of religion.They must imagine them in the state of victims & should show patience till the judiciary & the authority come to a final conclusion.The announcing of the names based on the eveidence they gather is to put people on alert to notify their existence known if any for further interrogations, as they have history of crime behind them.We muslims should show a restraint while the probe takes a certain time in bringing the people involved to justice,let us not be blind for the incidence taking place in the name of terrorism,express our solidarity with the nation & the mass to get ourself clean,instead of over reacting when we hear a muslim name.

    What about the criminals in Gujrat who has killed hundreds of Muslims infront of the full view of the police personnel and with their help and full utilisation of the state machinery .These terrorist who made this blast may not have known the victims involved,however its an heinous crime,imagine in Gujrat Criminal ripping open the pregnent Muslim Womens womb and killing the foetus and the Mother,burning people live.When will be the justice done to all these crimes.Peace will never take place if the law enforcement people are biased towards one perticular sect/community

    Don't give silly ideas sitting in Dubai. It has become the practice in India is that though the blasts were carried by Muslim Fundamentalist organsiation like SIMI, IM, LeT, HUJI, etc. with proper evidence also people like you still try to Blame Hindu groups to cover up your misdeeds and in turn you will get political support for this also. Spoiling India is the true colour of Fundamentalist organisations like SIMI,IM, etc.

    Question here is not a hindu, muslim or christian. This is a threat to nation's security and law. Whoever is done this, catch them ans hang them immediately, unlike the investigation on Kasab which is taking ages. If you punish the culprit without any mercy, then only anti social elements like these can be controlled.

    Mumbai Police always suspect and catch innocent persons torture them and make them to agree for the Crimes they have not done to show public they caught the Thief. These Bhatkal Brothers are caught and put behind Bars for no Crime done by them. Mumbai Police is good for this. They cannot catch the real CULPRITS. KASAB is caught and given the Security which even our President of India does not have. Crores are spent per day. A TERRORIST, CRIMINAL and MURDERER who shook the Whole World not only INDIA has been kept so safe since 2 years with VIP treatment inside the Jail with good Food and a Dunlop Bed to sleep with White Bedsheets. This is our Democracy. What kind of Justce is this ? Mumbai Police are also good to raid BARS and catch innocent Ladies who just dance and entertain people for their livelihood. Police say they do unwanted things and arrest them. The Hotel raided are who does not give HAFTA. The HAFTA given Hotels are spared. God save MUMBAI from Police.

    Mr. Althaf Hussein, most of the people in Bhatkal surroundings know about these people. If you want proper evidence, please check how many arrest warrants are there against them. Why they are hiding if they are innocent? If you know them personally, please ask them to surrender and get cleared from those cases. For your kind information, Congress-NCP is ruling in Maharashtra.

    Very sad indeed. Condolences to the dead. May those who suffered injuries recover soon. This attack is a mere provocation to divert India from that path by creating communal passion.
