Mangalore, Dec 8: N Vidyashankar, secretary of Justice B K Somashekhara Commission of Inquiry, which was formed to look into church attacks in the state during 2008, informed that a notification was issued on December 6 about the fact that the commission had concluded its inquiry. He said that the final report of the commission is yet to be placed before the government.
“The report, which is under preparation, will be submitted to the government in the coming days. Date of the report handing over will be made known in advance,” he clarified.
The commission had conducted its sittings in Bangalore, city, Udupi and Davangere. During this period, it had received 1,019 complaints, and examined 754 witnesses over a period of 300 days. 34 advocates represented the government and various organizations in this connection. After 53 final hearings, 2,437 documents and 34 electronically recorded evidences have been collected by the commission, he explained.
