Kasargod, Dec 8: In an incident that occurred at Ponnengala near Kumble in the district on Tuesday December 7, a bus cleaner lost his life after getting crushed between a bus and a wall. He has been identified as Rama Mukhari from Mugu near Ponnengala.
Satish, who was working as cleaner of a private bus that plies between Kasargod and Seetangoli, had reported for work at the place in Ponnengala where the bus had been parked for night. On reaching the spot, he saw that the bus had suddenly started moving in the reverse direction, and was about to hit a wall. He rushed behind the bus and tried to stop the bus by placing a brick under the moving tyres. However, the bus had gained momentum by then, and he was grievously injured.
Although he was rushed to a hospital immediately, he could not be saved.
