Beltangady, Dec 7: On Monday December 6, a grand procession accompanied by devotees, was taken out from the residence of Heggades in Dharmasthala to the dais as part of Samavasarana Puja. Bhagawan Sri Chandranatha Swamy Samavasarana Puja was organized on Monday night at the dais set up at Mahotsava auditorium, as part of the annual Lakshadeepotsava being held there.
The puja was performed with the chanting of hymns by devotees, coupled with worship with eight different items. An Aarati dance was also performed on the occasion. Samavasarana is a meeting in which the Teerthankaras give religious guidance to the gathering, and Samavasarana Puja is organized by Jains to symbolize such a meeting.
Hemavati V Heggade guided the puja rituals, in which D Surendra Kumar, Supriya Harshendra Kumar, Prasanna Kumar and local people participated. On the occasion, Suma Shankaranarayan sang ‘Sangatya’ part of ‘Bharatesha Vaibhava’ written by Ratnakara Varni. Dr B P Sampat Kumar explained the inner meanings of these poetic verses, which brought before the gathering inner meaning of sacrifice and enjoyment.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dr B Yashovarma and D Shreyas Kumar were present. On this occasion, B Jagatpal Ariga, an expert cook from Beltangady, and Ratnaraj Alva from Karkala, were felicitated by Dr Heggade.
