Bangalore/New Delhi, Dec 6 (PTI): Senior JD(S) leader and Rajya Sabha MP M Rajashekhara Murthy died at a hospital here following a cardiac arrest.
88-year-old Murthy, who was elected to Rajya Sabha from Karnataka in 2006, was rushed to hospital at 8.45 PM last night after he complained of chest pain.
He died at 11.55 PM following a massive heart attack, officials at the Karnataka Bhawan said.
Murthy, a freedom fighter, was staying at his official residence here.
He was first elected to Rajya Sabha on a Congress ticket in 1994. Before being elected as a JD(S)representative in the Upper House, Murthy was a member of the BJP in the Rajya Sabha during 2000-2005.
His body would be taken to Bangalore at 4.30 PM.
