Udupi, Dec 6: The children of five local schools were distributed clothes by the Palli-Adapady Umamaheshwara Shri Duragaparameshwari temple here on Sunday December 5.
The clothes were distributed by the temple dharmadarshi Pundalik Marathe at a function held at the temple auditorium. Sooda, Shirva, Mutlupady-Ninjoor, Dadabettu and Kapikad school children were among the beneficiaries. The cloth distribution has been held every year since the last nine years to primary and higher primary children. The temple proposes to distribute clothes to high school students from next year on completion of decennial year
State Konkani Sahitya Academy member Marathe, who presided over the ceremony said that the charitable work undertaken by the temple administration has proved beneficial to the rural citizens. He called on the parents to stress on compulsory education for children and also lay stress on imbibing moral values.
Ninjoor Srirama Higher Primary School headmistress baby Nayak was the chief guest on the occasion.
