Mangalore: Man Arrested, Stolen Ornaments Recovered

Mangalore, Dec 6: The police personnel of Suratkal station succeeded in arresting a person, accused of stealing gold ornaments from the house of his employer, from near KSRTC bus stand at Bejai in the city on Sunday December 5. The arrested person has been identified as D E Dileep (21), a native of Alur Siddapur in Somwarpet taluk.

Dileep was engaged to work in the house of S Ahmed Moidin living in K M Road Mukka near here as domestic servant, on November 10. His primary duty was to look after Moidin, who lives alone, and who had fallen sick recently. On November 18, the key of the cupboard in the house went missing. It is alleged that Dileep, who got access to the key, kept it with him without informing his owner. At around 2.30 pm on November 19, he reportedly opened the cupboard, took out gold ornaments worth three lac rupees, absconded from the house,and tried to sell them at Bangalore.

It is gathered that Dileep was unable to sell off the ornaments at Bangalore. On his arrival in the city from Bangalore, a police team led by Suratkal station house officer, K U belliappa, arrested him, and recovered the gold ornaments he had stolen, from his possession.
