Udupi, Dec 5: The art is not a commercial product, while the new generations of artiste’s believe that it can make them famous overnight. Meanwhile, the e-media also lays stress on their belief. The art is neither a commercial product nor bartered, said education expert Dr Mahabaleshwar Rao.

Dr Mahabaleshwar Rao was delivering a key note address at the felicitation programme of Anantapura Eshwarayya on the topic ‘Eshwarayya, an ideal example for cultural tolerance’ which was held at Bhavani Mantap of Janardhana Mahakali temple, Ambalapady here on Sunday December 5.

Eshwarayya has been the editor of ‘Kala Vihari’ weekly supplementary issue of Udayavani, Kannada daily for many years and retired a few years ago.

Art is a complicated issue while Eshwarayya has been one among those critics who have done their critical works with mastery over grammar. His extensive critics on Yakshagana and others were indeed
exhibited his in-depth knowledge, added Dr Mahabaleshwar Rao.

‘Eshwarayya has greatly contributed for secular views of critical analysis that has to be continued by the existing and new generation of critics. Eshwarayya stands among the top critics who had blended
his artistic expertise and human virtues in his works, elaborated Dr Mahabaleshwar.

The need of the hour is co-ordination among the artiste, critics and human virtues. The artiste has the notion that his works is superior, while the critics also weigh his job in a similar manner. The co-
ordination among them is essential to create reformed and enlightened society, advised Dr Mahabaleshwar.

Vidhushi Dr T S Satyavati inaugurated the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Satyavati said that its generally conceived that people who are above the age of 60 are unsteady, but Eshwarayya has shown the world that age does not matter with the expertise in his work. His critical works were multi-faceted and aimed at social reform, said Dr Satyavati.

Entrepreneur P Rabindra Nayak presided. Anantapura Eshwarayya felicitation committee honorary president Bannanje Govind Acharya and  president Dr V B Vijay Ballal were present.
