Mangaluru, Jan 1: The III Additional District and Sessions Court convicted two accused in connection with the murder case that took place in the 2018.
The III Additional District and Sessions Court judge Basappa Balappa Jakathi pronounced the judgment. The court awarded both convicts life imprisonment and also slapped fine.
The crime took place at Idya under the limits of Surathkal police station in 2018.

Mariappa, a resident of Kabbaragi in Kustagi of Kopala was murdered. Mariappa was working as daily wager in Surathkal.
Mariappa had given Rs 10,000 of his earning to the accused Gowdappa Gowda Sannagowdru. Later, when Mariappa asked for his cash, he was murdered by the accused.
Gowdappa Gowda Sannagowdru and Hullappa Basappa both killed Mariappa with an axe. Later, to destroy the evidence, the mortal remains of Mariappa were mutilated and dumped into a drain. The incident had taken place on May 31, 2018. The mortal remains were found under Chokkabettu bridge on June 2.
Surathkal police after investigating the case filed a charge sheet with 32 evidences.
The court in its order said that a fine amount of Rs 10,000 should be given to Hullavva, wife of the deceased, and directed the Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority to provide the compensation to the victim's family.
