Karkala, Dec 4: The task of evicting unauthorized religious buildings and other structures intruding public property began in the taluk on December 3.
A team of officials led by tahsildar, Jagannath Rao, took up the clearance operation in Kukkundoor, Ayyappanagar, Bailoor, Yarlapady, Ajekar, Kervashe, Marne, Hirgana and other places. During the operation, temporary structures located by the roadsides, donation boxes installed in public property etc were removed. In some places, as the concerned promised to shift the unauthorized structures on their own, they were asked to do the same without delay.
Revenue officer, K P Nayak, taluk panchayat executive officer, Rajendra Bekal, circle inspector, Puttaswamy Gowda, sub-inspectors of police, Pramod Kumar and B S Ravi, and several other officials took part in the operation.
