Bantwal: Samanvaya Organized Tailoring Course For Women Inaugurated

Bantwal, Dec 4: In memory of late Fr Bernard D’Souza, ‘Samanvaya’, a non-government organization in association with Sahodaya Bethany Seva Kendra of Mangalore inaugurated a free tailoring course at Guddeangadi in the taluk here on Thursday December 2.

The six-month course was planned exclusively for the benefit of women folk of the locality and is 9th such course offered by Samanvaya.

Latha, a social worker of the area working under Sahodaya Bethany Seva Kendra, introduced and welcomed the guests after a prayer song. Dr Ronald Cutinha spoke of the concern late Fr Bernard had for the poor, especially the women. By narrating a simple moral story, he convinced the gathering the importance of the tailoring course which will be of genuine use in their lives. 

Sr Prema Gonsalves, co-ordinator, Sahodaya Bethany Seva Kendra, stressed on the need of ‘women empowerment’ and advised the participants to make the best use of the facility made available in their village and try to change their lives to become self-reliant atleast to some extent.

Sefia, president, Nityanidhi Self Help Group co-ordinated with the local women and encouraged them to join the classes.

More than 50 people were present at the inaugural of the classes that commenced from Friday December 3 for which 25 candidates have enrolled themselves.
