Riyadh, Dec 30: Second edition of Diriyah equestrian festival will begin on January 10. More than 450 horses are expected to take part in the event. The event is patronized by Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Riyadh governor.

The event will be held at the International Equestrian Resort jointly organized with Diriyah Gate Development Authority. The event is named as Ubayyah in Diriyah. King Abdulaziz Arabian Horses Centre in Dirab will supervise the event.

The prize money is SR one million and the event will attract premier international gathering of horses. The event will run for eight days. Pride of Diriyah auction of elite horses will be the star attraction of the event. Portion of the sale proceeds from auction will go to charity.

Living exhibition of purebred horses whose lineage is tracked back to Saudi Imams and international competition for purebred Class B Arabian horses are also in the event. The visitors will have the rare opportunity to see the offsprings of famous horses owned by King Abdulaziz, Imam Faisal, Jallabiet Feysul and Ubayyah.

Professional male and female trainers will provide daily horse riding classes. Children with autism will also get the chance to train with horses as part of their professional therapy.
