Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 29: Night curfew began from 10 pm on Tuesday December 28 as per government orders in twin districts in order to contain the Omicron virus spread. The curfew will be in place from 10 pm to 5 am till January 7.
Police in Mangaluru had placed barricades right from the evening of Tuesday. After 10 pm only emergency service vehicles were allowed to ply.
Around 15 check post are opened under the limits of Dakshina Kannada district. Superintendent of police Rishikesh Sonawane said that stringent action will be taken on violators of night curfew.

In Udupi more than 800 police personnel are deployed to implement the night curfew regulations. SP Vishnuvardhan said that 25 check posts are opened for the purpose. Deputy commissioner M Kurma Rao has ordered to postpone cultural activities and celebrations at schools till January 15.
