Udupi, Dec 27: “All gathering, meetings and conferences, including marriages etc from Tuesday December 28, should strictly limit the number of participants to 300 people only and Covid appropriate behaviour shall be strictly enforced during the events. The responsibility to enforce the same lies with the organisers,” said deputy commissioner (DC) M Kurma Rao.
Addressing media, he said, “As per the guidelines from the state government, night curfew is imposed in the state from 10 pm to 5 am from December 28 till January 7, 2022.
“From December 30 to January 2, 2022, restaurants, hotels, clubs and pubs will function with 50% seating capacity strictly adhering to Covid appropriate behaviour. All staff members of the said entities should compulsorily possess Covid negative RTPCR report and should be fully vaccinated with two doses of Covid vaccine.
“There will be intensive patrolling and surveillance at all border districts adjoining Maharashtra and Kerala states to prevent spread of Covid, particularly Omicron variant, in the state.
“Any person violating these measures will be liable to be prosecuted as per law.
“The district administration and health department have taken all measures to control Covid. The total positivity rate is 0.2% from last week and it seems balanced. Currently, there are 55 active cases in the district. We have been conducting Covid test rigorously, mainly in the education institutions in Manipal.
“About 10,733 Covid tests were conducted in Manipal containment zone, out of which 35 positive cases were reported. The number of tests per day has increased. The district has attained 96.03% coverage in the first dose and 82.97% in the second dose. We are working on home-to-home visits in order to raise the vaccination coverage. As per central and state guidelines, booster doses will be administered to certain sections of people and vaccines will be given to children of 15-18 years age group,” he said.
