Mangaluru, Dec 26: Passengers on board a recent IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Mangaluru were in for a delightful surprise.
As they settled down in their seats and prepared for take-off, the first officer of the flight started addressing them - in Tulu!
"E vimana Mumbaiyidd, pidard sari sumaru onji gante aiyeen mimisha prayana malpuna andaj undu. Daya malth matherla araamodu ithhd vimana prayanada kushin anubhavisale pand enklena aase. Ini enklena ottige prayana malpere manas malthinek nikuleg matheregla enkulena udal dinjidi solmelu," first officer Pradeep Padmashali announced in Tulu.
The officer's gesture won the hearts of the passengers. He even informed the passengers that Tulu is a language spoken in southern Karnataka.
The video of the announcement has gone viral on social media.
Generally on Indian flights the announcements are made in English and Hindi. However, now more and more airlines are making use of regional languages to address onboard passengers.
