Mangaluru, Dec 23: Six accused were arrested regarding the case where a fisherman was hung upside down from a crane in Bunder area in the city and tortured.
The arrested are Konduru Polayya (23), Avula Raj Kumar (26), Kaatangari Manohar (21), Vutukori Jalayya (30), Karpingari Ravi (27) and Pralaya Kaveri Govindayya (47). All hail from Andhra Pradesh.
The victim in the horrific incident is Vaila Sheenu, a member of the fishermen community from Andhra Pradesh.
It may be recalled, a video clip which shows a man being tortured by other fishing workers after hanging him upside down has become viral in the social media websites. As per preliminary information provided by the policemen, he was ill-treated in this way for stealing a mobile phone.

Mangaluru, Dec 23: A fisherman was hung upside down from a crane in Bunder area in the city and tortured. The fisherman in question has been identified as Vaila Sheenu, a member of the fishermen community from Andhra Pradesh.
A video clip which shows him being tortured by other fishing workers after hanging him upside down has become viral in the social media websites. As per preliminary information provided by the policemen, he was ill-treated in this way for stealing a mobile phone. It is said that the fishermen who violently behaved this way also belong to Andhra Pradesh.
A case relating to this incident was registered in the city (south) police station under different provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
This incident happened a few days back. The Pandeshwar police have registered an attempt to murder case in this connection and have undertaken investigation, said city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar.
