Mangaluru, Dec 21: Catholic Sabha Bondel unit and Inter Religious Commission Bondel parish, jointly organised ‘Christmas Souharda Koota’ at St Lawrence Church hall here on Monday December 20.
M G Hegde, director, MIFT College, Rehmaan Khan, president, Ranga Swarupa, Kunjathbail, and Walter Nandalike, managing director, Daijiworld Media, were the guests of the day.
Fr Peter Gonsalves, principal, St Lawrence English Medium School, Bondel in the keynote address said, “The true meaning of Christmas is Jesus’ message of love, not hate. Jesus showed His love for others by blessing and serving.”
The programme was inaugurated by Sangeetha R Nayak, corporator, Pachanady ward, by cutting the cake. In her address she appreciated the concept of ‘Souhardha Koota’ and congratulated the organisers.
Chief guest M G Hegde said, “We have to love one another in order to make this Christmas meaningful. At a time when the society is wrought by evil designs, we have to dedicate our life for others and spread the message of peace this Christmas season.”
Rehmaan Khan said, “Jesus gave the message of peace and love to the world.”
Walter Nandalike said, “Do not be a hypocrite. All religions preach the goodness of truth, morals, love and compassion. We should respect one and all.”
Fr Andrew Leo D'Souza, parish priest, St Lawrence Church in his presidential address, “Christmas is the right time to remind ourselves that God's language is love. He does not speak any other language than the words of love.”
The choir members sang with rich music and melody and the hearts ushered the spirit of the festival.
Stephen D'Silva, president, Catholic Sabha, Bondel unit welcomed the gathering. Manohar Concessao compered the programme.
Niral Vas, convenor proposed the vote of thanks.
Reginald D'Souza, vice president, Parish Pastoral Council, Steevan Noronha, secretary, Lancy D'Cunha, convenor, Souharda Koota were also present.
