Udupi, Dec 20: A person, who had been arrested on the charge of raping his minor daughter twice, has been found guilty of the said charge. Judge of the district additional and sessions court here, Yermal Kalpana, has delivered a judgement through which the man has been found guilty.
The incident had happened in May, 2020. When no one else was around, the father, who was 41 years old, had raped his 14-year-old daughter. He also had threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to others. The distressed girl, with the support of neighbours, had called her mother and informed her what she had gone through. Later, the mother complained to the women's police station here. The police who registered a case under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, had arrested the accused father.
The then police circle inspector of the station, C Kiran, had investigated the case and filed charge sheet. The prosecution case was supported by the evidence of the aggrieved girl, her mother, and the neighbour. On the basis of these things, the judge pronounced the father of the girl as guilty. Apart from imprisonment for life, the man has been imposed with a fine of Rs 20,000 and an additional fine of Rs 5,000 for posing life threat. The government has been ordered to pay a compensation of five lac rupees to the girl.
