Bantwal, Dec 20: In an incident which happened at Aripekatte in Punacha village in the taluk, a man locked up his wife inside the house and then started a fire. On the basis of a complaint filed by Mohammed Kabir relating to the incident, a complaint has been registered against a local named Ghouse Jalaluddin.
Mohammed Kabir's sister, Fatimat Bushra, is married to Ghouse Jalaluddin from Vittal. The couple had persisting differences for about a month. Ghouse Jalaluddin had visited the house of Kabir ten days back and angrily argued on the issue of sending his wife back home. On Saturday afternoon, he came home with fuel filled in a bottle, abused Bushra with derogatory words, posed a life threat, and set a sofa set at his house on fire with the purpose of burning down the entire house. The flames burnt down the sofa set, religious book, rugs, rice and coconuts. The loss has been estimated at about Rs 10,000.

When Kabir tried to stop Jalaluddin, he reportedly attacked Kabir and pushed him to the ground. Kabir was injured. He is being treated in a hospital. Jalaluddin has been arrested.
