Guwahati, Nov 28 (IANS) India defeated New Zealand by 40 runs in the first One-day International at the Nehru Stadium here Sunday.
Chasing India's total of 276 runs, New Zealand were all out for 236 in 45.2 overs, with Ross Taylor being the top scorer with 66 runs.
For India, S. Sreesanth (3-30), Yuvraj Singh (3-43) R. Ashwin (3-50) and Ashish Nehra (1-44) were the wicket-takers.
