Mangalore: Sanjeevini – 2010, AIMIT Holds Blood Donation Camp

Mangalore, Nov 28: Sanjeevini, the blood donation camp organized by the Management Club of AIMIT, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) was inaugurated by mangalore MLA U T Khader on Friday November 26.

Lioness MJF Bharathi M, Linons Club Dist 324 D5, region-9 was the guest of Honour. Fr Denzil Lobo, director, AIMIT, Dr Ozwald Mascarenhas, chairman, MBA department, AIMIT, Dr Sridhar, dean, AIMIT, Dhananjaya, the faculty co-ordinator of Sanjeevini, Govil and Shivprasad were present.

The college choir led by Runa and the team sang the prayer song.  This was followed by a short
presentation about Sanjeevini by the IT desk. Govil welcomed the dignitaries. U T Khadar was
florally welcomed by Fr Oswald and Dr Sridhar gave the bouquet to Lioness MJF Bharathi .

Shivprasad Ramrao, co-ordinator, Sanjeevini 2010 then gave a brief introduction to Sanjeevini
2010. He mentioned on how this programme has been successfully carried out since 2006. He also
highlighted the community awareness programmes in the form of street plays enacted by students this
year.

Lioness MJF Bharathi M welcomed one and all and thanked everyone present for being part of the noble
cause of blood donation. She highlighted the fact that camps like Sanjeevini helps hospitals to collect
blood and give it to the patients who are in need of the same in the case of an emergency.

Mr. U T Khadar delivering the presidential address, congratulated the director and staff of AIMIT for not only making students only intellectually good but also moulding them to be good citizens by conducting camps like Sanjeevini. He encouraged everyone to donate blood at least one in 6 months citing his own example and how he started donating blood when he was a student at St Aloysius Pre-university College.

Fr Denzil Lobo began his address by first welcoming Khader and Lioness MJF Bharathi. He regretted for not having enough opportunities of donating blood. He mentioned that gift is a symbol of love, care and concern. But blood donation is giving life to someone. He also mentioned that even though we cannot engage in the kind of sacrifice that our soldiers do while they serve the nation, through blood donation we take a small step towards that noble deed..

Fr Denzil then presented a memento to U T Khader. Fr Oswald presented a memento to Lioness MJF Bharathi M. Natasha Mary delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was concluded with the college anthem sung by the college choir.

Over 120 students donated blood during the camp. Doctors and nurses from KMC, Manipal collected the blood from the donors. Union Bank and Lions Clubs of Mangalore were the principal sponsors of the blood donation camp.
