Panaji, Dec 18: The process of recruiting more than 350 people in PWD is kept on hold due to an alleged scam. CM Sawant ordered a probe on the issue on Friday, December 17.
PWD minister Deepak Pauskar was accused of collecting huge bribes to the tune of 70 crore over recruitment for the position of engineers in the PWD department by Babush Monseratte, BJP MLA of Panaji. However, Pauskar has denied any involvement in this alleged scam.
CM Sawant said that the recruitment process is kept on hold and a three member committee is formed to probe the allegations. The committee consists of Director of Vigilance, Ankita Anand, special secretary of Vigilance and Puneet Kumar Goel, principal secretary.
The Panaji MLA who has accused Pausk of corruption says that the probe cannot be completed now as the code of conduct will be in place for next assembly elections soon.
On the contrary Pausk alleged that the Panaji MLA Monseratte must have given some names for consideration which did not figure in the final list and that is why he is calling it a scam.
The port minister said that the decision of CM Sawant for an inquiry is a good one and they welcome the same.
