Mangalore: Eviction of Illegal Religious Structures in 15 Days

Mangalore, Nov 27: In a meeting organized here on Friday November 26, sub-divisional officer, Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, instructed the officials of the local bodies to take all necessary steps to remove temples, mosques, churches, gurdwaras and any other illegal structures which obstruct smooth movement of traffic and encroach drains, within 15 days.

The meeting was held in his office in the city. He clarified that the municipalities, gram panchayats, town panchayats, public works department, and national highway department, have to take steps to clear the obstructing structures from the areas falling within their respective jurisdictions. He asserted that the officials, during this operation, should take utmost care to ensure that communal harmony is not disturbed.

He clarified that the revenue department will intervene in the matter, if law and order problems arise because of this drive.

Officials of the local city corporation, Bantwal and Ullal municipalities and local tahsildar, among others, participated in the meeting.
