Mangaloe, Nov 27: Constitution Awareness Jatha and Convention was organized under the joint aegis of Namma TV and the Constitution Awareness Movement, Dakshina Kannada at Town Hall, here on Friday Nov 26.
It was organized as a part of nationwide ‘Constitution Awareness Movement’ observed from November 26 to January 26 with the purpose of strengthening constitutional rights and values.
Dr C S Dwaraka Nath, the former chairman of State Backward Classes’ Commission, Karnataka Government said that the constitution protects and provides the right to live. He also urged for everyone to be aware of constitution of their mother land.
Additional District and Sessions Judge S P Chengappa, the chief guest said that ministers in our state should be educated about constitution, as some of them insulted the Indian constitution by fighting in assemble recently.
Human rights activist M Venkataswamy and former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake were the chief guests. Professor Rita Noronha, general convener of the movement, presided over the programme. Advocate Stanley R D’Costa delivered the welcome address. Hussain Katipalla compered the programme.
Advocate and notary B A Mohammed Haneef delivered the keynote address on the occasion. A rally was organized from Jyothi Circle to Town Hall. A public discussion was held later in the evening.
