Kundapur, Nov 26: A delegation comprising former state minister, K Jayaprakash Hegde, and MLC, K Pratapchandra Shetty, is ready to leave for New Delhi for pressurizing the central government to shed its plan to build an embankment at Shastri Circle in the town. Members of the delegation will demand for a fly over instead, at the same spot.
A meeting of like-minded people had been convened in this connection, in the town on Thursday November 25. The issue of chaotic execution of highway widening works was discussed at the meeting. Responding to the opinion that emerged at the meeting, Jayaprakash Hegde promised to go to New Delhi with Pratapchandra Shetty, to meet union minister for road transport and highways, Kamal Nath, through former union minister, Oscar Fernandes, and prevail on the minister to modify the plan as above.
The meeting opined that building of an embankment at Shastri Circle will effectively bifurcate the town, which will have long range disastrous affect on the development of the people and the town alike.
MLC, K Pratapchandra Shetty, Fishermen’s leader, B Heriyanna, Rajaram Hebbar , Kota Ibrahim Saheb, Dr Y S Hegde, and various leaders participated in the meeting.
