Doha: ICC Advanced Toastmasters Club holds 'Ignite Possibilities' session on self leadership

Doha, Dec 15: 'Ignite Possibilities', the renowned online keynote series run by ICC Advanced Toastmasters Club conducted its conclusive and successful 14th segment on 'Self Leadership' to help people tap their incredible inner potential and soar to new heights of success and fulfillment.

Attendees had the privilege of listening to Manoj Keshav who is a leading International NLP Master Trainer, psychologist, and therapist with over two decades of training experience in conducting life-transforming, experiential workshops.

He is the Founder of NxtNLP Research Institute and the author of the famous book titled, 'The Life Transforming power of NLP' and has widely published many articles on NLP [Neuro Linguistic Programming]. He loves researching on topics like Neuroscience, Emotional well- being, Body – Mind Connection, Psychology of learning etc.

Alar Mel Mangai, the Division G director reported the trainer started with the profound statement on the importance of self-leadership that 'Without self-leadership, there is no life'. He said, "Attributing it all to a puppet show as to how the stings are controlled by someone unseen, there are many strings that control us and our leadership style too.

"They are, trying to please others, urge to rebel and do opposite, ego driven life, blame or excuse driven life and so on. He emphasized that we must realize that we are responsible for the quality of life we lead. Also we must shift our thinking from what I am to who I am for better self-realization and acceptance," he said. 

He enlisted the 6 habits of highly ineffective leaders as given by the famous authors Larry Bossidy and Ram Charan, namely

- Filtering- Receiving only filtered information
- Turning Out - Hear only what they want to hear
- Wishing - Leaders want something so bad that they aren’t objective.
- Timidity – Employees are fearful to share info to the leaders
- Excessive Commitment - Too much emotional attachment prevents leaders from being realistic.
- Value Myopia - Making promises that aren’t realistic and then struggling to keep up or even ignore.

He then explained the preponderance of accepting reality. "The factors influence not to accept reality are denial, projection of blame on circumstances or on others, rationalization, etc. To get over these, we need to enhance our self-awareness. Willingness to let go things, what is that you want and don’t want, not dwelling in the past and always having future vison are the traits to be developed be successful leaders," he said. 

The brainstorming Q & A session had a wide range of interesting questions on anger management, value myopia in corporate culture, how luck and circumstances influence success, tips to improve self-awareness.

The trainer gave a detailed explanation and the session turned out to be interactive and engaging the audience in a lively passion. Attendees included many dignitaries across the globe.

TM Madhu Nair, the event convener anchored the show with the support of Q&A moderator DTM Nalini Mathur.

DTM Christopher AlMeida extended the opening and closing address of the meeting. DTM MI Farid, organizer of this Keynote series thanked all the presenters and attendees so far for making all the 14 episodes highly successful.
