New Delhi, Nov 25 (TNN): Breaking his long silence, former Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi said he is not afraid of the law and will soon return to India as and when he feels safe for comeback.
In an interview on Thursday, Modi added that it is due to his initiative that BCCI will earn $2 billion from IPL and he has been pulled down by those who are jealous of his success. He further said that he has not pocketed any money from IPL.
Commenting on the IPL Kochi issue, Modi said that he has no regrets on tweeting on the Kochi controversy and Shashi Tharoor and had done so only to bring the truth out. He also said that he has no intention to get Tharoor sacked.
Pointing fingers towards BCCI, Modi said that it's a witch hunt launched by people who are jealous of him. He also added that he didn't rig the bidding process as all the governing council members were present during that time.
Commenting on WSG, he said that there was nothing unfair in awarding the deal to WSG and BCCI didn't lose any money through it. He further added that that WSG did the same that any marketing company was supposed to do.
Modi added while conceptualizing IPL, he brought in family and friends as they trusted his concepts while others rejected his ideas. He also said that his family members had not benefited from IPL.
