Udupi: Samanvaya Holds Workshop on Public Speaking

Udupi, Nov 25: “Public Speaking” is a gift from God and inborn knack to some. But in the modern competitive world, one must be fully prepared in all aspects, to speak on a public platform, in order to keep the audience totally attentive. With this object, a Workshop on Public Speaking was jointly organized by ‘Samanvaya’ Mangalore, Catholic Sabha Udupi Zone and ‘Fuddar Prathisttan at Don Bosco Hall here, recently.

Walter Cyril Pinto, president of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Central, inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp and gave an introductory speech. Dr Ronald Cutinha, director of Samanvaya was the resource guide of this workshop. He explained the basic points that one must bear in mind prior to speaking in the public. They were, introduction of topic, how to prepare a speech, what is required in preparation of  a speech and relative guidelines for public speaking and, these points were elaborated in detail for the benefit of the participants. 

The workshop was followed by deliberation and group discussion on three topics. Thereafter, out of the gathering, three trainees were selected to give speech and, accordingly, Divya Thelma Fernandez spoke on ‘Leadership’, Lavita on ‘Personality Development’ &  Anita on ‘Love & Friendship’. The video recording and replay of presentations enabled the critical evaluation of each participant.

Elroy Kiran Crasta, state president, All India Catholic Union (AICU) was present on the dais. Lewis Almeida, president of Catholic Sabha, Udupi zone welcomed the gathering. Shaila Fernandes, assistant secretary of Catholic Sabha Udupi zone compered the workshop and Gretta Menezes of Shirva proposed the vote of thanks. 

About 17 individuals took active part and 25 audience availed the benefits of the workshop.
