Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Nov 25: A pickpocket named Lavina alias Hilda D’Souza, a resident of Ullal Uliya near here, who used to habitually steal things from bus passengers, was arrested by the policemen on Wednesday November 24. They also recovered things she had stolen from different passengers.

Reportedly, Lavina had collided with a bus passenger named Shiji Thomas, who was going from the city to Ullal for attending duties at a nursing college there, where she works as a lecturer. After the bus reached Ullal, Shiji noticed that her purse had been stolen. She immediately grew suspicious about Lavina, but Lavina refused to be frisked, hurriedly got down from the bus, and took an auto rickshaw towards Mangalore. The policemen passed on information to Tokkottu, and got the fleeing Lavina arrested from there. Eight thousand rupees in cash, 15 purses, and a mobile phone, were recovered from her home. The mobile phone in question has been identified to be belonging to a lady named Shashikala.

Lavina was produced in a court and remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.
