Kundapur, Dec 13: In an accident that occurred in the wee hours on Monday December 13 at Shiroor toll gate, toll personnel Raghavendra Mesta (44), was grievously injured and died on the way to hospital.
A car bearing registration number GA 10 A 3398 lost control and hit against the front wall of the toll gate. Raghavendra Mesta, who was on security guard duty, died due to the impact. The passengers in the car also are injured seriously and being treated in the hospital.
Mesta community and locals have alleged that the negligence of the toll gate contractor is the reason for this accident that caused the death of Raghavendra. They began a protest in front of the toll gate from the morning of December 13.
The protesters alleged that the toll gate officers did not report to the spot even after the toll gate personnel died. The protesters are demanding a compensation of Rs five lac to the family of the deceased and also to provide a job in Pooja Associations, the company for which the deceased worked. In addition, they are also demanding the toll gate contractor to get compensation to the deceased from the vehicle insurance company and also other insurances.
Sri Rama Mesta, leader of Mesta organization and others along with locals, who are 125 people in number are staging the protest. They are also demanding that all their requirements have to be fulfilled in writing.
