Udupi, Nov 24: Preparations are under way to celebrate the 80th birthday of Swami Vishveshateerta of Pejawar Mutt, from Friday December 10 to Sunday December 12.
 
A celebration committee has been formed to oversee the preparations. The committee consists of president Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade, president Dr V S Acharya and executive president MLA Raghupati Bhat.
 
To mark the 80th birthday celebration of Swami Vishveshateerta, 'Virat Abhinandan,' a compiled book by Bannanje Govind Acharya with overall responsibility of H Shantharaj Aithal will be released.
 
In order to get national significance, the preliminary meetings of well-wishers from Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Ernakulam, Bangalore and Mandya were held.
 
Religious sages from all over the country and leaders of political parties, entrepreneurs and a large number of devotees expected to attend the three-day celebration. Sri Ravishanker Guruji, Suttoor Swamiji, Adichunchanagiri Swamiji, Ramachandrapura Swamiji, BJP leader L K Advani, Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, CM B S Yeddyurappa, former CM H D Kumaraswamy, union minister for law and justice Veerappa Moily, Muniyappa, entrepreneurs Dayanand Pai, Jayaram Banan, Sadanand Madi and Vasudev Rao are likely to attend the celebration.
 

Mahayaga at Car Street
 
One-hundred-eight Mahayaga will be held at Car Street for the intention of fostering global peace as part of the programme. Hundreds of Vedic celebrants are likely to partake in the Mahayaga. Free food offerings will be held for the devotees. Swami Laxmivarateerta Swami and Diwan Latavya Acharya will oversee the arrangements.
 
Well-known cultural troupes from across the country will stage special cultural programmes on the occasion. M L Samaga will be the convener of cultural programmes.
