Mumbai, Nov 23:
‘Chinnara Bimba’, the children’s theater troupe engaged in promoting Kannada and Tulu culture in the metro, has served its aim successfully by teaching Kannada to the children of native Kannadigas despite them studying in English medium schools,” said Bhujanga Shetty, deputy chairman, S M Shetty Educational Institutions, Powai.

He was delivering the presidential address at the inaugural ceremony of Chinnara Bimba’s ‘Samskratik Utsav’ held at S M Shetty High School hall, Powai, on Sunday November 21.

Maharastra Navnirman Sena (MNS) spokesperson Dilip Lande was the chief guest.  Speaking on the occasion, he said that wherever one settles down in life, he or she is expected not to disregard their mother tongue.  “It’s the duty of everyone to keep our indigenous culture alive.  Chinnara Bimba has contributed significantly in this regard,” added Lande.

Gurudeva Seva Balaga–Maharastra unit vice-president Chandrahas Rai said that it’s because of Chinnara Bimba that the children of Kannadigas settled in the metro got a chance to train in the culture of Karnataka.

S M Shetty Educational Institutions secretary chartered accountant I R Shetty said that it’s not an easy task to train the children in Kannada and its distinct culture in the chaotic life in the metro.  “Chinnara Bimba has grown over the years as a significant training institute,” he added.

Bhujanga Shetty presided over the programme.
