Mangalore: MCA Holds Two-day Inter-district Chess Tournament

Mangalore, Nov 21: Mangalore Chess Academy (MCA) and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan two-day inter-district chess tournament conducted by Mangalore Chess Academy under the auspices of South Kanara District Chess Association, Mangalore, was inaugurated by Jayaram B Shetty, director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mangalore and Joe Gonsalvis, committee member, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mangalore at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on Saturday November 21.

Arvind Shastry, director, Mangalore Chess Academy and Gururaj M S, president, South Kanara District Chess Association were on the dais. A total of 73 player from South Kanara District and Udupi district participated in the tournament. Out of which 21 are International FIDE rated players. The tourney was 8 round event.

Chief guest honoured Shabdik Varma and Pangal Gopalkrishna for their achievement in the School Game Federation of India Chess Championship held at Goa.
