Udupi, Dec 5: "The government is not thinking about imposing lockdown now," said minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
Speaking to the media about the new Covid variant, he said, "The government is not thinking about imposing lockdown. Places where 3 or more positive cases are found will be sealed down.”
Speaking about the change of chief minister (CM) in the state, Poojary said, "Basavaraj Bommai has become the CM with the support of the legislature. He is working efficiently. He has worked hard to contain the Covid spread and has taken necessary steps for the same. Even the opposition parties are surprised with the working style of Bommai. The answers CM Bommai gave on floor of the house are regarded as historical records. I will not answer those who are dreaming about the change of CM. Frequently there will be meetings with the leaders in Delhi discussing development issues. Bommai will continue as CM.”
Replying to the Krishna Byregowda's statement that MLC elections are just for namesake, Poojary said, "If it was just for namesake, why is Krishna Byregowda contesting the election? The beauty of democracy is hidden in this election. This statement shows the level of those who commented. Everyone should respect elections in a democratic set up. BJP will win 15-20 seats in this election. We are confident of winning the MLC elections with a huge margin. In the DK-Udupi constituency BJP has 12 MLA and 3 MPs. The BJP has made every effort to strengthen the panchayat raj system. The BJP government made arrangements to provide honorary pay to the panchayat members.”
Speaking about the Deve Gowda-Narendra Modi meeting, Poojary said, “There were no talks about the coalition of BJP-JD(S). Modi has welcomed Deve Gowda considering him as a senior leader. Deve Gowda has also praised the working style of Narendra Modi. There were no talks about any sort of coalition between the two parties.”
