M'lore: DYFI's Muneer Katipalla to Attend World Youth Festival in South Africa

Mangalore, Nov 20: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) state vice-president Muneer Katipalla has been chosen to represent the country at the 17th World Festival of Youth and Students to be held from December 13 to 21 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The World Festival of Youth and Students is an international event, organized by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), a left-wing youth organization, jointly with the International Union of Students. The festival is organised every four years.

Muneer is among the eight delegates chosen from the state to take part in the convention.

The motto of this year's festival is 'Let's Defeat Imperialism, for a World of Peace, Solidarity and Social Transformation.' Around 25,000 representatives from 172 nations are expected to take part in the nine-day festival, stated a press release.

Issues on world peace, environment, development, child rights, democracy, and so on will be discussed at the festival, the release stated.
