Mangaluru, Dec 3: Court sentenced surveyor T P Heeregowda to two years of imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 in corruption case.
When Heeregowda was serving as a surveyor in the surveyor office of Beltangady in 2014, he had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from Kutticcha Mogera for land conversion. Kutticha had appraised this matter with the Lokayukta, who had raided and arrested Heeregowda when he was receiving the bribe.
Justice B B Jakati, judge of third additional and sessions court of city, who conducted the inquiry of the case pronounced the verdict on December 2 and sentenced Heeregowda to two years in prison and Rs 5,000 in fine.
Dileep Kumar K H had submitted the chargesheet to the court. Special prosecutor Ravindra Munnipadi had argued the case for Lokayukta.
