Udupi, Dec 2: Canara Bank has reportedly received 44 fake currency notes in its currency chest from various bank branches between November 17, 2018 and August 31, 2021.
41-year-old Sandesh Rodrigues, a resident of Udupi is employed as senior manager at Canara Bank currency chest, Udupi. The RBI department had conducted inspection in Canara Bank chest from July 14, 2021 to July 15, 2021. The RBI staff, during their inspection of fake currency notes, has found that 44 fake currency notes were received by the Canara bank chest from various bank branches from November 17, 2018 till August 31, 2021.
Miscreants have allegedly manufactured fake currency notes and transacted them like genuine currency notes. A case at CEN police station under crime No. 60/2021 section 489(A), 489(B) IPC is registered in this connection on the basis of a complaint from Sandesh Rodrigues.
