Karkala, Nov 19: The policemen of the town police station here conducted a raid on a house where cattle were being slaughtered illegally and inhumanly on Thursday November 18. During the raid, they recovered 280 kg of beef and arrested 11 persons.
The riding party saw that the cattle were being butchered in a room with tin sheet roof behind a house in Kabettu. The room was full of filth and blood. Four cattle that were tethered near the room, equipments used to kill the animals and mobile sets were also seized from the room.
Local residents, Asiq Rehman, Sheikh Mohammed Fahad, Asif, Moidin, Sadiq, Muqtar, Mohammed Khalid, Nawaz, Abdul Ajmer, Farid and Ahmed, were arrested. It is said that the beef recovered was made of three slaughtered animals, and its value is estimated at around Rs 20,000.
Town police sub-inspector, Pramod Kumar, led the operation in which, other personnel of the station participated.
